Kentucky announces veteran defensive back Davonte Robinson is out for the season

Training camp is about to open in Lexington but the Wildcats will do so without a veteran defender as Kentucky has announced that safety Davonte Robinson is out for the season.
According to the team, Robinson injured his right quadriceps muscle on Tuesday. The injury will require surgery, which will sideline him for the season.
A Lexington native, Robinson appeared in all 13 games for the Wildcats last season. He made 42 tackles, including three for loss, and had four pass breakups and two fumble recoveries. He also scored against Flordia when he picked up a loose football and returned it for a touchdown as time expired in Kentucky’s historic win over the Gators last season.
His career-best of nine tackles came last season against Georgia. Robinson also appeared in all of Kentucky’s 13 games during his true freshman season back in 2017.
Making matters worse for the team, Kentucky lost all four starting defensive backs this offseason and Robinson was projected to lock down one of the team’s starting safety spots.
