Dawg Pound divided: Cleveland’s Nick Chubb, Freddie Kitchens wager on SEC title game

The conference title isn’t the only thing up for grabs when Alabama and Georgia clash in this year’s SEC championship game — both teams could be playing for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

But the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide aren’t the only teams with something at stake this weekend.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb and offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens have placed a friendly wager on the game, according to NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano. Chubb was on the Georgia team that lost to Alabama in last year’s national championship game, while Kitchens played quarterback in Tuscaloosa from 1993-97.

As funny as their wager is, it’s highly unlikely that Chubb would actually be allowed to call plays for the Browns against the Texans, especially considering Cleveland is surprisingly on the fringe of playoff contention. It’s also worth noting that Kitchens gains nothing if the Crimson Tide wins, which might be meant to show just how confident he is in Alabama’s chances.

If this bet is serious, however, Chubb will likely set an NFL record for carries Sunday.
