Earlier this year, Mizzou AD Jim Sterk made some inflammatory remarks about South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley — remarks for which he recently apologized.

That doesn’t mean Staley and Sterk are best friends now, though, even as they are both attending SEC meetings in Destin, Florida, this week.

On Tuesday, Staley said she doesn’t plan to go out of her way to speak with Sterk, saying the apology is all she was looking for from the Mizzou AD (via The State):

“Will I speak? I’m not going to go out of my way to speak to him, but as far as what happened, it’s over in my book,” she said. “It’s over with. We got what we wanted out of the deal. The apology was the main thing.”

It sounds like there is no love lost between Sterk and Staley, as Staley’s comments seemed to indicate things are still tense.

The rivalry between the Gamecocks and Tigers should be much more intense in the coming years, though.
