Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks are about as close to unbeatable as it can get in sports right now. The Gamecocks are 25-0, having just embarrassed No. 3 LSU by 20+ Sunday afternoon, weeks after downing No. 5 UConn. They beat No. 2 Stanford earlier in the year, too. South Carolina is now the only undefeated DI basketball team in the country, men’s or women’s.

Staley’s squad celebrated the win by watching the Super Bowl, where the head coach suffered her first loss of the year. Staley, a known Eagles fans, saw the Kansas City Chiefs take care of business in a well-fought game, 38-35.

Staley went on the Paul Finebaum Show Monday to discuss a particular topic about that game; the controversial holding call deep in KC territory by Eagles DB James Bradberry. Without the call, Philadelphia likely would have had a chance to tie or win it in the final minutes.

Here’s what she had to say:

Despite the loss, former Alabama and Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts was incredible in the performance, breaking an NFL record for most rushing TDs by a QB in the Super Bowl (3).

South Carolina, like KC, won a championship of their own last season and seem to be well on the way to repeating. Can anyone topple the powerhouse that Staley has built?

We’ll see.
