Day One starter? Nation’s top JUCO TE Dominick Wood-Anderson makes Tennessee arrival
It’s been a long journey for Dominick Wood Anderson but he’s finally arrived on Rocky Top.
The nation’s top junior college tight end prospect signed with Tennessee during the early signing period with the intention of arriving in Knoxville as an early enrollee but an academic issue kept him at Arizona Western College for an additional few months. Now with a strong summer on campus, he’ll be poised to compete for a potential starting spot for the Vols heading into fall camp.
News of Anderson’s arrival was first reported by Jesse Simonton of Volquest, the Tennessee Rivals affiliate. Following the initial report, the Tennessee tight end announced his trip to Rocky Top Wednesday evening.

The elite JUCO prospect wasn’t really on the radar for Tennessee until the hiring of Jeremy Pruitt and his coaching staff. Following several recruiting visits from UT tight end coach Brian Niedermeyer, Anderson’s new position coach, Tennessee beat out the likes of Alabama, Texas A&M, USC and many others for his services during the early signing day period.
Following the graduation of senior Ethan Wolf, Tennessee only returns five catches and 57 receiving yards from the tight end position heading into 2018 (Eli Wolf & Austin Pope). If Anderson lives up to the hype, it’s easy to see him cracking the lineup this fall in Knoxville early and often. His 6-foot-5, 245-pound frame is something Tennessee doesn’t currently have on the roster at his position. He’s also shown the ability and willingness to block, unlike some elite tight end prospects.
