Day One starter? Packers waive veteran punter following draft selection of J.K. Scott
That didn’t take long.
Less than a week after selecting Alabama punter J.K. Scott in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers have already moved on from veteran punter Justin Vogel. Vogel served as Green Bay’s punter in every game last season and has been punting in the NFL for two seasons.
Similar to how he was a Day One starter basically the moment he arrived in Tuscaloosa, the path is clear for Scott to do the same at the NFL level. While rookie minicamp begins next week in the NFL, the Packers seem eager to give the former Crimson Tide player every chance to be their punter for the long haul.
News of Vogel’s departure from Green Bay was first reported by ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter.
After drafting punter J.K. Scott in the fifth round last weekend, the Packers waived their regular punter Justin Vogel, per source. Will not be a surprise to see Vogel get claimed on waivers.
