After losing out on two highly rated in-state recruits on Friday morning, Texas A&M was dealt another major blow on Friday. Daylon Mack, a five-star defensive tackle and the highest-rated prospect in Texas A&M’s 2015 recruiting class, announced he was dropping his commitment to the Aggies.

When five-star linebacker Malik Jefferson and four-star wide receiver/athlete DeAndre McNeal committed to Texas on Friday morning, they said that it was their goal to influence Mack to join them with the Longhorns. Apparently, their commitments to the Aggies’ in-state competitors had an immediate effect.

The string of losses in the recruiting column come just a day after Texas A&M landed five-star wide receiver Christian Kirk.
Texas A&M not having a defensive coordinator influenced Jefferson’s decision, and it could lead to more defections if Kevin Sumlin doesn’t make a strong hire in the near future. As of last week, Sumlin said he was more concerned with making the right hire instead of rushing the move. In the midst of recruiting season, it’s already having an affect on the Aggies’ recruiting class.
Mack is expected to visit LSU in January, and also visited TCU in recent weeks.
