Mike Elko spent the 2017 season as the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, where he oversaw the Fighting Irish’s rise from No. 61 in scoring defense to No. 31.

Now, he’s on Jimbo Fisher’s staff at Texas A&M, and he’s excited to be in College Station for his next challenge.

During A&M’s media day on Sunday, Elko said he left Notre Dame for Texas A&M because he believes the Aggies are on the verge of big things:

Aggie fans will be interested in seeing how Elko’s defense performs after the struggles of Chavis’s units the past couple of years.

If Elko can get the most out of this year’s defense, the Aggies could indeed do big things in Fisher’s first year at the helm of the program.
