Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes dropped their season opener against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by a score of 27-20.

Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King ran for a 45-yard touchdown to take the lead and left Colorado 1:07 to try and go down the field and tie the game. With two timeouts in their pocket, Colorado had a legit chance to drive down the field and score a touchdown to get the game into overtime.

Colorado elected to not use any of their timeouts, and their drive ended at the 50-yard line with a Kaidon Salter incomplete pass to Dre’lon Miller. Fans crushed Sanders on social media for his late-game clock management.

After the game, Sanders addressed the media about Colorado’s time management on the last drive of the game.

“I think we got out of bounds a couple of times, so we don’t have to take them,” Sanders said about Colorado’s decision not to use their timeouts. “So we were just really trying to preserve them till we certainly needed them.”

Deion emphasized that Colorado was able to get out of bounds and that they had incompletions as to reasons why he didn’t elect to use their final timeouts.

Colorado’s next game will be on Sept. 6 at 3:30 p.m. ET when they take on the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens.
