Deion Sanders and Colorado got the 2025 season started off on the wrong foot on Friday, falling to Georgia Tech 27-20.
The Buffaloes will be under the microscope this year after the departures of both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. While it’s too early to tell what this loss means for them from a wide angle, it’s still a tough defeat for the Buffs at Folsom Field.
Colorado actually had the ball in its hands with 67 seconds to go and 2 timeouts remaining. For some reason, though, Sanders opted not to use any of them. By the time Kaiden Salter had picked up a 1st down on a 5-yard run out of bounds at the Buffs’ 39, 18 seconds were left on the clock. By the time Salter threw an incomplete pass to Dre’lon Miller, there were under 10 seconds to go.
The Buffs have a much easier game coming up in Week 2 as they’ll be a heavy favorite against FCS Delaware. But Sanders could have done a better job managing the clock down the stretch in Friday’s loss to the Yellow Jackets.
