Deion Sanders expected to make another Colorado QB change, per report

Despite a rough start to the 2025 season, it appears Colorado is ready to go back to Kaidon Salter under center after Ryan Staub’s shaky outing against Houston in Week 3.
Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported Wednesday that Salter, who started the Buffaloes’ first two games, is “in line” to reclaim his QB1 role. Colorado is set to host Wyoming at home on Saturday in a big bounce-back spot.
Deion Sanders made it clear last game that he didn’t want to keep rotating signal-callers, but after playing Salter, Julian Lewis, and Staub against Delaware, he chose the latter for the conference opener. That decision didn’t pan out. Staub turned in a 19-of-35, 204-yard, one TD and two INT performance against the Cougars.
Now, the focus shifts to how Salter will be used. At Liberty, he thrived in a spread-option system. In Boulder, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur has leaned on a more traditional pocket-passing approach — akin to how Shedeur Sanders ran the offense in the previous two seasons.
Coach Prime hopes returning to Salter can help the Buffs find an identity and unlock the team’s full potential.
