Deion Sanders has had a rough go of it lately with his feet, and the Jackson State coach recently had surgery to remove 2 of his toes. But those close to him wouldn’t let a good gag gift go without delivering on his 55th birthday.

In this reveal video initially shared on Instagram, Sanders receives rubber feet to slide on to his surgically-repaired feet following the amputation.

“This is good, I like that,” Sanders said. “Y’all got jokes. Thank you Sam, I’m complete now. I really feel complete now. I’m going to kick some butt today. It’s not over with you Sam.”

Sanders last year dealt with a serious, life-threatening foot issue that caused him to miss games and later return on a scooter. The 2 toes were removed in March as a complication from the life-threatening blood clots he suffered during a prolonged hospital stay last fall.

TMZ noted that initial surgery on his left foot came from to a longtime injury he suffered during his 14-year NFL career. The procedure was done last fall, but Sanders suffered complications and had to go under the knife 8 more times.

Sanders should be visible this season, so we’ll get a glimpse into how he’s moving around once Jackson State returns to action.
