When Lane Kiffin announced that Demarcus Thomas had been injured at Ole Miss practice this week, it was a scary experience for many fans and media members the way the coach revealed the news during a post-practice press conference.

Kiffin was clearly shaken during that media availability and noted practice never resumed following Thomas going down.

Taking that into consideration, you can only imagine how tough the entire situation was on Thomas’ mother, Shandra Jones, and Thomas’ family.

The great news is the incident was more of a scare than a serious injury as Thomas was able to leave the hospital the same day he was airlifted via helicopter to Memphis to be evaluated.

But during the uncertainity that initially followed news of Thomas’ injury, the outpouring of support from fans, both Ole Miss fans as well as rival fans, was incredible.

Following her son’s recovery, Jones wanted to get the word out that those well-wishes didn’t go unnoticed.

Here is the note Jones wrote, which was shared by Ole Miss staffer Katie Bason, along with the caption:  “Damarcus Thomas’ mom asked me to share this with the Ole Miss family!”
