Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson met with reporters on Wednesday morning at SEC Media Days in Atlanta.

Lawson was asked, among other things, about previous comments made by Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos. Earlier this offseason, Castellanos brashly noted Nick Saban’s absence from the Alabama program and said he didn’t see how Alabama would be able to “stop him” when the Noles and Tide go head-to-head on Aug. 30.

“They don’t have Nick Saban to save them. I just don’t see them stopping me,” he said.

That quote caught the attention of virtually everyone in college football — especially Alabama’s locker room. Lawson referred to the comment as “disrespectful.”

“All disrespect will be handled accordingly,’ Lawson said Wednesday, via Clint Lamb.

Both Florida State and Castellanos are coming off of rough seasons. Castellanos was benched at Boston College midway through the season. FSU went just 2-10 a year ago as it failed to meet any expectations after going 13-1 back in 2023.

The Noles are big underdogs at home against Alabama in Week 1. Per BetMGM, Alabama is a 12.5-point road favorite in that game.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 30.
