It’s all official: Josh Gattis has let his position on Alabama’s staff as wide receivers coach to become the new offensive coordinator at Michigan. Shortly after UM made the announcement introducing Gattis, the assistant coach turned to social media to share a farewell note to Alabama.

Gattis, who spent the 2018 season on UA’s staff after working the previous four seasons at Penn State, thanked coach Nick Saban, athletic director Greg Byrne and the Crimson Tide wide receivers. Gattis calls his season at Alabama an “incredibly rewarding and fulfilling” experience.

The note was shared via his Twitter account.

Gattis had been linked to the offensive coordinator position at Maryland under former Alabama OC Mike Locksley, the new head coach of the Terrapins. The Michigan development reportedly came as a shock to Maryland.
