Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke said this week two wide receivers were planning to leave the program. Redshirt freshman Miles Battle confirmed he was one of them with a goodbye tweet on Thursday.

Battle plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Luke said Wednesday that he is leaving Ole Miss because of a lack of playing time. Battle has two receptions for 20 yards this season.

The wideout didn’t give any indication as to why he was departing in his tweet.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time here at Ole Miss,” Battle wrote in his tweet. “I want to thank the coaches, my teammates and friends that I have made on and off the field for everything they’ve done for me.”

After thanking everyone, he wrote “However, after numerous prayers, and conversations with my family, I feel that it is now in my best interest to enter my name into the transfer portal.”
