Derrian Ford, a freshman guard at Arkansas, has updated plans for the 2023-24 season, nearly 3 weeks after he announced a return to Fayetteville.

Ford announced on social media that he would enter the transfer portal.

Ford was a 4-star member of Arkansas’s 2022 recruiting class as he was the No. 3 overall player from the state of Arkansas in his class. He later played sparingly for the Razorbacks this past season, but showed flashes of potential.

Ford appeared in 21 games for the Hogs in 2022-23, averaged 3.8 minutes per game and scored a total of 15 points with 10 rebounds, 8 assists and a steal as a true freshman.

One of his most memorable games came against Missouri when Ford contributed 9 crucial minutes and scored 4 points on a driving play to the basket and pair of free throws as the Hogs dealt with foul trouble.

“RAZORBACK NATION! I would like to start by giving all the honor and glory to God for this incredible opportunity. I would like to thank all of the Razorback fans and the Arkansas community for the support and love you have continuously shown me and my family. To my teammates and the coaching staff, thank you for the memories and bonds we’ve built.

“Arkansas will always be my home and hold a special place in my heart. After much prayer and consultation with God, my family, and the coaching staff, I have made the decision to enter the transfer portal. This is not the end; only the beginning for me. To everything there is a season; a time for every purpose under Heaven… God bless all.”
