Alabama freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts made an impressive debut in Saturday’s 52-6 win over USC.

Hurts threw for 118 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 6 of 11 passing, as well as 32 yards and two touchdowns on nine rushing attempts, all while splitting reps with starter Blake Barnett and Cooper Bateman.

Many took notice of the true freshman’s performance, including former Alabama and current Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry, who credited Hurts for having composure in the first game of his college career.

Like Hurts, Henry split time with T.J. Yeldon and Kenyan Drake as a true freshman, which included a breakout performance in the 2014 Sugar Bowl in which he recorded 100 yards and a touchdown on just eight carries.

The Heisman Trophy winner led the Tide in rushing during each of the past two season, which included an SEC record and FBS-best 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2015.

Henry also wore No. 2 during his final season at Alabama, which Hurts was given this offseason.
