Derrick Leblanc, Oklahoma DL, explains decision to enter transfer portal
Derrick Leblanc entered the transfer portal on Monday, just a few months removed from officially signing with Oklahoma.
Late Tuesday night, Leblanc explained why he’s making the surprising choice to transfer before the start of his freshman season.
Leblanc referenced “hardships back home” that have caused this decision.
“Sooner Nation due to unforeseen circumstances back home I entered the transfer portal,” he wrote. “I had every intention of being a Sooner for life when I committed but due to hardships back home I have decided to move closer to home. I want to thank coach venables & coach bates for it all.”

Miguel Chavis, Oklahoma’s defensive line and outside linebackers coach, shared a supportive message on Tuesday morning:
A great young man with a bright future; love you Blanc! Life can be complicated and hard, but remember this: God’s got you and so do we! ??❤️? https://t.co/wNqrQIo4s3
