Derrion Reid questionable for No. 2 Alabama’s game against Texas

Derrion Reid has been an impactful player for Alabama throughout his freshman campaign in Tuscaloosa. On the season, the 6-foot-8 freshman from Georgia is averaging 7.2 PPG and 3.4 RPG in nearly 17 minutes of playing time.

Reid missed the last game against Arkansas, and is currently questionable for the game against Texas on the initial availability report released Monday evening.

This has been a lingering injury for him, as he missed some games earlier in the season because this leg injury. However, he returned on Jan. 29, but injured it against in the game against Georgia on Feb. 1.

Before their last game against Arkansas, Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats talked about how the staff is taking his short term and long term health into account when determining his playing status.

Derrion had a little discomfort following the Georgia game,” Oats told reporters the day before the Arkansas game. “We had him out, we brought him back, continuing to increase his basketball workload. But we anticipate him having a long, successful basketball career well after he’s done playing in college. We didn’t want to jeopardize any of his long-term health, so we’re trying to make decisions that benefit him in both the short-term and the long-term.

The Crimson Tide are 1 of the deepest teams in college basketball, as they have 6 players averaging at least 10.1 PPG.

The game between Alabama and Texas will tip off on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
