LSU won’t have Leonard Fournette in 2017, but it will have Derrius Guice. And that’s a pretty big deal considering the elite company he just joined.

With his 285-yard, four-touchdown performance in last night’s 54-39 win over Texas A&M, Guice became the first SEC running back in over 20 years to post two 250-yard rushing games in a single season, joining an elite list of three others to ever do it.

Guice went for 252 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ win over Arkansas two weeks ago, too, giving him five games over 100 yards in 2016. He will enter the postseason with 1,249 yards at a rate of 7.96 per carry and 14 scores — all of which currently top the SEC.

A sophomore, Guice will most definitely serve as a building piece for whoever LSU brings in as its next head coach.
