Desmond Howard is a big fan of Alabama’s Ryan Williams.
Of course, it would be hard not to be as the 17-year-old has taken the college football world by storm this season.
In Week 5, Williams made one of the most incredible plays you’ll see from a WR for the game-winning score. On College GameDay in Week 6, Howard broke down what makes Williams so special.
“I got a chance to see Ryan Williams up close and personal. He’s a sensational receiver,” Howard explained. “Now listen, Ryan has incredible ball skills, ridiculous ball skills, and he has suddenness.”

Howard then showed clips from Alabama’s victory over Georgia. Williams ran exceptional routes against Georgia’s best corner, Malachi Starks. Howard pointed to Williams’ body control on the 75-yard game-winning score as another impressive moment.
“I’m so glad we got to stay and watch that game, he is electrifying,” said Howard.
Williams leads Alabama in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving TDs as a 17-year-old true freshman. Williams eclipsed 100 yards receiving in 2 of his first 4 college games.
Against Georgia, Williams had his biggest game yet. The WR caught 6 passes for 177 yards and 1 TD in the big win.
The next test for Williams and Alabama will be against Vanderbilt in Week 6. The 4-0 top-ranked Tide are taking on the 2-2 Commodores in Nashville at 4:15 p.m. ET.
Things will get tougher for Alabama soon, as ranked matchups against Tennessee, LSU, Missouri, and Oklahoma await.
