The Florida Gators had to wait 4 games into the 2025 season before unleashing true freshman wide receiver Dallas Wilson on the world. But Wilson was certainly worth the wait – catching 6 passes for 111 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Gators shocked then-No. 9 Texas 29-21 in Gainesville.
ESPN College GameDay analyst and 1991 Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard profiled Wilson during Saturday morning’s show about Wilson’s electrifying debut – and detailed exactly how he broke down the Longhorns.
“This guy is 6-foot-3 and has physical gifts,” Howard said as Wilson lined up for a drag route against Texas. “I knew it was going to be his day with this one, as he fumbles the ball with about 6 white jerseys around him and it bounces right back to him.”
Howard then gushed about Wilson’s ability to fight off defensive backs during Wilson’s 55-yard touchdown reception.
“Don’t press this man, because watch his left hand as he stuns the DB,” Howard said. “But this is when the show starts. How do you not get him out of bounds, No. 4? Because Dallas is too strong. And then he runs through the safety and knocks his helmet back. … This guy is a Deebo (Samuel) out there.”
We’ll see if Wilson can turn in another big game against another Lone Star State foe. Florida and Texas A&M are set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff from Kyle Field in College Station.
