When the SEC Championship Game takes place next weekend in Atlanta, it could be about more than just a conference title (though that’s of the utmost importance, of course).

That’s because Alabama QB Mac Jones and Florida QB Kyle Trask could be battling it out for the Heisman Trophy, too, with the winner potentially clinching the prestigious award.

However, on Saturday morning’s College GameDay, Desmond Howard made a passionate case for Florida TE Kyle Pitts to be included on everyone’s ballots:

“If you want to see somebody who’s unique, who’s rare, who’s somebody you’ve never seen before in college football at that position, to me, that’s what a Heisman should mean,” he said. “He’s so unique, so rare, that you have to put this guy on your ballot. It ain’t Kyle Trask, it ain’t Mac Jones — it’s Kyle Pitts. If you vote and Kyle Pitts is not on your ballot, you are doing the Heisman a disjustice and a disservice.”

Howard isn’t necessarily arguing for Pitts to win the award, but he is saying that Pitts has to be included in every voter’s top 5.

We’ll see how things shake out, but Trask, Jones, Alabama WR DeVonta Smith and Pitts will have one more chance to showcase their talents next Saturday in Atlanta.
