Devin Leary pulled off a Play of the Day nominee as the Kentucky quarterback used a Houdini act to wiggle out of a would-be sack by Akron. And that wasn’t all.

Leary somehow connected a pass to Ray Davis, and he zig-zagged some 58 yards to the end zone for an amazing touchdown. The play happened on 3rd down and 11 with less than 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter.

Leary delivered another big game for the Cats as he poured on 315 yards on 16-for-24 passing with an interception as the Cats eventually built a 28-3 lead in the second half. That came after Davis added another score, a 55-yard run in which he blazed past the Akron defense.

UK’s offensive performance was especially notable since Akron came into Saturday with the No. 39 defense in FBS, as it allowed 292 yards per contest.

Last week, Leary rallied the Cats with touchdown passes on 4 straight possessions and completed 24 of 38 attempts for 299 yards. It was the 9th time the NC State transfer has thrown for 4 TDs and tied a career high.
