DeVonta Smith comments on Alabama WR room, says they’re ready to make ‘some noise’ in 2023
DeVonta Smith is excited about Alabama’s wide receiver corps in 2023.
Smith spoke about the group that Alabama has returning this year with Alabama play-by-play voice Roger Hoover earlier this week.
“There are some young guys coming in and making some noise,” Smith said. “Trying to get them back to playing at the standard that was set before me.”

Alabama’s passing game took a step back in 2022, as no Crimson Tide receiver eclipsed the 700-yard threshold. Jermaine Burton led the team with 674 yards.
It marked the first time since the 2017 season that Alabama did not have a 1,000-yard receiver.
However, there’s reason for optimism that Alabama will get back to the “standard” that Smith referenced in 2023. Ja’Corey Brooks and Isaiah Bond seem to be ready for bigger roles in this upcoming season.
The Tide also signed a group of elite receivers in the class of 2023. The group includes 5-star Jalen Hale and No. 1 overall JUCO transfer Malik Benson.
Smith, a former Heisman Trophy winner, is entering his 3rd NFL season out of Alabama.
