Nick Saban and Alabama landed a commitment from 2019 offensive lineman Deyavie Hammond on Tuesday, and the Tide went into the Sunshine State to do it.

The Lakeland, Florida, product is listed as a 6-foot-4, 320-pound offensive guard, and he’s rated as a 4-star prospect by 247Sports. Hammond is ranked as the nation’s No. 5 overall guard and the state of Florida’s No. 16 player for the class of 2019.

The Gators have recruited Lakeland High School very well over the years. Players like Mike and Maurkice Pouncey, Chris Rainey and Ahmad Black come to mind. Most recently, Florida signed talented WR James Robinson for the class of 2017, too. When Alabama wants a prospect under Nick Saban, however, it usually gets it.

Hammond released the news from his Twitter account Tuesday.

Oddly, with Hammond’s commitment, Alabama has more commits in the class of 2019 (3) than 2018 (2), but we don’t expect that to last too long. Alabama always finishes strong on the recruiting trail, and 2018 will be no different.

Here are Hammond’s sophomore highlights at Lakeland High School:
