Dick Vitale isn’t on the mic for this week’s conference tournaments, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t following the lead-up to the NCAA Tournament.
Vitale, who was recognized Saturday at the SEC Tournament in Tampa, named his 3 biggest winners of Championship Week on Sunday. Vitale identified Texas A&M as one of the teams that have played their way into March Madness. The Aggies are joined by Indiana and ACC Tournament champion Virginia Tech.

Texas A&M has been on the bubble. The Aggies began SEC Tournament play as one of ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi’s “Next 4 Out” teams. Buzz Williams’ squad opened Thursday’s Round 2 of the SEC Tournament with a thrilling overtime win over Florida, bursting the Gators’ bubble. Texas A&M then shocked regular-season SEC champion Auburn, eliminating the top-seed Tigers from the conference tournament on Friday. Ahead of Saturday’s semifinal against Arkansas, Lunardi still had Texas A&M as a team outside the field of 68. The Aggies made it 3 big SEC Tournament wins with a dominating victory over the Razorbacks.
Lunardi now has Texas A&M as one of the “Last 4 In” the field of 68. That bodes well for the Aggies’ NCAA Tournament hopes, but they may just make it official by winning the SEC Tournament and locking up the automatic bid instead of sweating out Selection Sunday. Texas A&M takes on Tennessee in the SEC Tournament Championship Game at 1 p.m. ET.
