Dillon Gabriel, former UCF QB, flips transfer commitment

Dillon Gabriel has decided on a different transfer destination.

The former UCF quarterback, who pledged to UCLA on Dec. 16, announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Monday night.

Gabriel’s commitment to Oklahoma follows Caleb Williams’ decision to enter the transfer portal. At Oklahoma, Gabriel reunites with Jeff Lebby, a former UCF offensive coordinator who left the Knights for Ole Miss.

Gabriel only played 3 games of the 2021 season after breaking his clavicle on Sep. 17. As a true freshman in 2019, Gabriel recorded 3,653 yards, 29 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 13 games. He followed that up in 2020 with 3,570 yards, 32 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 10 games. In 3 games this past season, Gabriel passed for 818 yards, 9 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

College football insider Bruce Feldman notes that Gabriel was supposed to begin classes at UCLA on Monday, so it was a last-second decision for Gabriel to flip his transfer commitment.
