DJ Lagway is currently in a walking boot as Florida gears up for fall camp, according to reports out of Gainesville.
Per Zach Goodall of 247Sports, Lagway is dealing with a lower-body injury that is being described as minor. Specifics of the injury were not detailed, but the injury is said to be “not of long-term concern.” Billy Napier‘s squad begins practice on Wednesday.
It’s the second offseason injury that Lagway has dealt with. The Florida quarterback was limited in the spring as he dealt with a hurt throwing shoulder, an injury that dated back to his high school days. Lagway did not throw during UF’s spring practice, but resumed throwing in summer activities.
Lagway appeared at SEC Media Days in Atlanta earlier this month. He downplayed injury concern, joking that he did not have a prosthetic arm.
Last season, Lagway had an early exit in the loss to Georgia and missed the following week against Texas due to a hamstring injury. He finished the season completing 59.9% of his passes for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, with the Gators going 6-1 in games he started, including wins over LSU and Ole Miss.
Lagway is entering his first full season as Florida’s starting quarterback. He took over the starting role last year after the season-ending injury to Graham Mertz.
The Gators open the 2025 season at home against Long Island University on Aug. 30. UF hosts USF in Week 2 before hitting the road to begin SEC play at LSU on Sept. 13.
