Former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is now being tabbed as a potential replacement at Duke for transfer portal player Darian Mensah, according to CBS Sports and 247Sports. Lagway committed to Baylor on Jan. 8 but hasn’t signed yet.

The 6-foot-3, 247-pound Lagway passed for 2,264 yards with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while rushing for 136 yards and a score last season as a sophomore. In total for his college career, Lagway has tallied  4,179 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions and rushed for 237 yards and a touchdown.

According to 247Sports, Lagway is the No. 4 quarterback and No. 14 prospect in the nation for the transfer portal. Coming out of high school, the Texas native was regarded by 247Sports as a 5-star prospect and the No. 3 recruit and top quarterback in the nation.

Lagway went 6-1 as a starter in 2024 which temporarily prolonged the tenure of head coach Billy Napier. However, Florida regressed to a 4-8 mark last season, finishing 11th in the SEC and failing to reach a bowl game for the second time in 3 years.

Prior to committing to Baylor, where his father Derek Lagway Sr. played, he took visits to Florida State and Virginia.
