The Georgia Bulldogs took care of business against Vanderbilt on Saturday, winning the game, 37-20. Quarterback Carson Beck threw for 261 yards, and the Bulldogs had 552 yards of total offense. Tight end Brock Bowers left the game with an ankle injury, but the X-rays came back negative.
With Bowers out, the Bulldogs needed someone to step up, and Dominic Lovett was the guy. He finished the game with 9 catches for 72 yards and 1 touchdown. The 9 catches were the second most in his career, as he had 10 catches for 148 yards against South Carolina last season. But it was clearly his best game at Georgia.
After his big day against Vanderbilt, he talked to reporters about being ready when Beck looked his way.
“I just trusted my quarterback, and I always tell him, if the ball comes my way, I will make a play,” Lovett said. “So, when the ball came my way, that’s what I did. I grow into my role each week, and each week I just lock in on the game-plan. Whatever it may be, I just get it done.”
In the last 3 games, Lovett had only eight catches. As the Bulldogs wait and see the status of Bowers moving forward, Lovett could continue to see his role increase.
