LSU offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell enters the NCAA transfer portal
LSU may be losing some key depth up front as rising senior offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
News of Campbell’s entrance into the portal was first reported by Matt Zenitz of AL.com.
Campbell was projected to be among the players competing for a starting job on LSU’s offensive line in 2020 after making seven appearances for the Tigers during the team’s run to the national championship after appearing in just eight total games leading up to his junior season. The Tigers are losing four starters off their offensive line this offseason, which makes this move all the more interesting considering the path to a starting role appeared clear for Campbell.
Campbell signed with LSU out of Ponchatoula, La., and was ranked as a top 200 player nationally and top 10 guard prospect.
It should be noted that just because a player has entered the NCAA transfer portal does not mean they will leave their current institution. Entering the NCAA transfer portal is however the first step in the process and allows other schools to contact the player without restrictions.
If Campbell leaves LSU, he will be a graduate transfer, making him eligible immediately at his next stop.
