Dream come true: Former Alabama walk-on turned Chiefs practice squad player scores first career TD

It’s been a long road for Kansas City Chiefs running back Derrick Gore.
Gore was a former walk-on at Alabama who eventually transferred to Louisiana-Monroe and was an undrafted free agent in 2019. After stints on the practice squads of several NFL teams, he eventually signed a reserve/futures deal with the Chiefs prior to the 2021 season before being waived.
Shortly thereafter, Gore signed with the Chiefs’ practice squad and was later elevated to the active roster on Oct. 12 after starting RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire was placed on injured reserve.
With the Chiefs facing the New York Giants on “Monday Night Football”, Gore’s journey hit a new high as he ran for his 1st career NFL touchdown. You can take a look at the video below:

The Chiefs took a 14-7 lead following the extra point. At halftime, they led the Giants 14-10 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
