Drew Lock is back in the hunt for the Seattle Seahawks’ starting quarterback competition after a brief absence battling COVID-19.
Coach Pete Carroll said Lock would play “a lot” against Dallas.
“He did OK today, he seemed to bounce back,” Carroll said, referring to Lock’s return to practice following a 5-day break from the team. “… We just want to see what happens, he started throwing and he was fine, so we just gave him the normal workload.”
Lock appeared to have an edge in the competition with Geno Smith before his absence, and he was expected to start Seattle’s second preseason game against Chicago. Lock had previously taken first-team reps in practice.
Now that Lock has returned, there’s a good chance he’ll play a good portion of the game on Friday against Dallas, and it appears he has a solid chance to start as long as practice goes well this week.
Lock was 11-of-15 for 102 yards with a pair of touchdowns in the first preseason game against Pittsburgh. Smith has completed 20-of-33 passes for 213 yards in 2 preseason games.
