Brandon Kennedy won a national championship last season. And now, he’s playing at Tennessee.

A grad transfer from Alabama, Kennedy has joined the Vols at fall camp after deciding to transfer following two seasons with the Crimson Tide. The center played in 10 games with the Tide over the past two seasons.

Although he didn’t play much, Kennedy was surrounded by a winning atmosphere at Alabama. And that’s one reason why Tennessee tackle Drew Richmond is excited to have Kennedy as a teammate.

“It’s just good having him around,” Richmond said on Sunday, according to GoVols247. “He’s a good person with the mentality that he knows how to win. It’s been good that he’s around and we’re happy he’s here.”

Kennedy was already familiar with Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt, who was the defensive coordinator at Alabama the past two seasons.

Not only can Kennedy play for Tennessee this season, but he has eligibility for the next two years.

“He’s been productive,” Richmond told GoVols247. “We’re happy to have him around. He’s been around a winning program, so he kind of knows what it kind of takes to be a winner at a high level like this, especially. It’s been good having his energy around.”
