With the NFL Draft coming at the end of April, former Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott’s draft stock is now a popular topic of discussion.
Prescott was arrested on Saturday morning for a DUI, according to a report that originated from The Clarion-Ledger.
Not that there’s ever a good time to make such a poor decision to puts the lives of both himself and others in danger, but this was a particularly poorly timed move by Prescott.
The Bulldog was on his way up many draft boards following a strong showing at Mississippi State’s pro day on Thursday, which was reportedly conducted in front of representatives for 30 of the NFL’s 32 teams.
That performance, combined with an effort that earned Prescott the Most Outstanding Player Award at the Senior Bowl in January and a solid NFL Combine performance in February, had elevated the perception of Prescott from a “system” running quarterback at Mississippi State to as high as a second-round pick according to some experts.
It was a testament to his work ethic to grow as a passer throughout his senior season, and the majority of SEC fans were thrilled for him to see that type of praise after he decided to return for his final year of eligibility in 2015 following a monster 2014 season.
Now, we must wait to see if Prescott is able to rehab his brand when meeting with NFL teams between now and late April.
Here’s what some NFL Draft experts and media personalities are saying about Prescott’s draft stock following Saturday night’s news:
Never good. Prescott has been climbing up my board lately. https://t.co/zORbOx1nPi

Wrong time to make a poor decision, Dak. https://t.co/c4uOP0Deoc

@Loyal2MyTeams @JC1053 I don't think much changes. If a team liked Dak before, I doubt this changes their opinion in the 3rd-4th round.

Terrible news about Prescott. Really hurting his draft stock with just over a month away and moving up draft boards. This definitely hurts.

Promising QB prospect Dak Prescott single-handedly trying to sabotage his draft stock in one night by getting arrested & charged 4 DUI.

Prescott said to have most interest from Panthers, Browns and Steelers, interesting to see how DUI affects draft stock. If at all.
