Injuries on the football field can happen to anyone but what happened to D’wan Mathis this offseason was truly scary.

Georgia’s freshman quarterback had to be rushed into surgery to have a cyst removed from his brain following the conclusion of his first spring in Athens. Despite the setback, Mathis was in good spirits immediately after the surgery.

“Dawg Nation I’m good thanks for checking on me,” Mathis noted on Twitter following his surgery. “I’ll be back sooner than ever and better never question gods timing! Major set back for a major comeback and to my teammates keep working I can’t wait to play football again.”

Mathis flashed his potential during his first spring camp at Georgia and while he is likely headed for a redshirt season if all goes according to plan in Athens, considering Jake Fromm’s status is cemented as the team’s starting quarterback and Stetson Bennett’s history with the program, the young quarterback already looks to have bounced back from his offseason surgery.

The Bulldogs recently shared the following video of Mathis on the basketball court. He certainly looks to have regained his explosiveness in time for fall camp.
