Dwayne Haskins’ tributes: CJ Stroud, Ryan Day offer classy moves to honor QB

CJ Stroud and Ryan Day took time during Ohio State’s continued spring workouts to pay tribute to Dwayne Haskins, the former Buckeye quarterback who was killed over the weekend in South Florida.
Stroud, who wears No. 7 which Haskins also did at Ohio State, wrote on his practice jersey, “LLDH7” and “RIH SIMBA.”
After practice, Day shared these thoughts.
“There’s a good group of our guys that played with Dwayne, and they’re hurting,” he said. “It was a tough weekend for all of us. Certainly our prayers are going out with the family, the entire family. His wife, certainly his parents. … One of the biggest legacies he’ll leave behind is he set a dream and he chased it.”
Day said Haskins was an 11-year-old when he walked through the Buckeyes facility and said, “This is what I’m going to do, and then did it.”
Day also remembered how Haskins “kickstarted” throwing the ball and how the Ohio State offense changed in the 2018 season.

Ryan Day on Dwayne Haskins: “It’s hard to wrap your mind around this. … He was like a big brother to R.J. (Day). He meant a lot to my family, he meant a lot to this program.”

Ryan Day does not think he would be Ohio State’s head coach right now if not for Dwayne Haskins and Dwayne’s 2018 season. This is a very emotional press conference as you can imagine.
