“I can’t thank UL enough for everything they have done for me, but I couldn’t miss this opportunity to play for the school that I’ve dreamed to play on since I was little,” Carpenter said. “Therefore, I will be flipping my commitment to LSU!!”
LSU’s upset victory vs. Alabama likely was the cherry on top for Carpenter to make his decision.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Carpenter is regarded as the No. 24 prospect from Louisiana and the No. 52 Edge in the nation. LSU is the lone Power 5 program that offered Carpenter. Other programs that offered him include Arkansas State, Charlotte, and Louisiana Tech. Carpenter’s highlights can be viewed below, via Hudl:
LSU’s 2023 recruiting class is currently ranked fourth nationally. The group featured 19 4-star prospects, highlighted by wide receivers Shelton Sampson Jr. and Jalen Brown, defensive lineman Dashawn Womack, and offensive tackle Zalance Heard.
