Dylan Sampson has tied things up in Knoxville.

After Tennessee was held scoreless in the first half, the Vols finally got on the board with a 2-yard rushing touchdown by Sampson midway through the 3rd quarter. The score, which came at the end of a 7-play, 91-yard drive, tied the game at 7-7.

Here’s video of the score:

Sampson also had the longest play of the drive: a 36-yard rush to put the Vols into Alabama territory. Sampson has largely been Tennessee’s best offensive player so far this season. He’s already up to 16 rushing touchdowns on the year, which is second nationally to only Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty.

Tennessee’s offense struggled with retaining the ball in the first half, turning it over 3 times. However, Alabama was unable to make the Vols pay for those mistakes and took just a 7-0 lead into the halftime break.

Tennessee is hoping to avoid its second SEC loss this season. The Vols are also looking for their second straight win over rival Alabama at home.
