Coaching in the SEC comes with a certain level of expectation that LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is well acquainted with.
Coach O got his first SEC head coaching job with Ole Miss. He coached the Rebels from 2005-07, but the program never seemed to get on track. The Rebels went 10-25 with a 3-21 record in the SEC during three seasons with Orgeron as the head coach.
He has since found his way to LSU where he is off to a 12-4 start over parts of two seasons as the Tigers head coach. That is a solid start for the Tigers, especially considering how LSU looked earlier this season, but it will take many more wins for Coach O to stick around.
The Tigers are getting set to take on No. 1 Alabama this weekend, but Orgeron was asked during his Monday press conference about Florida’s decision to move on from head coach Jim McElwain. McElwain was in just his third season with the Gators, but Orgeron said that is just part of the business of football.
TigerDroppings.com shared O’s comments on Twitter:
O on McElwain: "I don't like to see anybody get fired, but it's part of the business. If you don't win, they find somebody else who will."

Orgeron also explained that he understands a head coaching position in the SEC is extremely valuable. Andrew Lopez shared those comments on Twitter:
Coach O: "Having a head job in the SEC is very valuable. You get paid to win. If you don't win, they'll get someone else to do it." #LSU

Orgeron has a lot of work to do with the Tigers, but a win over the Crimson Tide Saturday would go a long way with the LSU faithful. Kickoff for that game is set for 8 pm EST on CBS.
