The 2018 season couldn’t have started much better for LSU. The Tigers soundly defeated the Miami Hurricanes, who were considered the preseason favorites to win the ACC Coastal division, on a neutral field.

But don’t think for one second LSU coach Ed Orgeron still needs to see more from his first-time starting quarterback Joe Burrow. Orgeron discussed his quarterbacks and plenty more during the SEC Coaches’ Teleconference on Wednesday.

  • Joe Burrow is our No. 1, but Myles (Brennan) is still here. Joe did a good job, but he has to improve. He knows that, but (Brennan) will play. I’m looking forward to seeing him play.

Here are the other items of note Orgeron discussed on the teleconference:

On SEC scoring in Week 1:

  • 33 was seventh-most (points scored in the league). That’s incredible. Explosive league but of course some good defenses. Things will even out when we start to play each other.

On redshirt rule, will LSU play young players this week versus Southeastern Louisiana:

  • We treat every opponent the same, but in any game, if we have a chance to play young guys, we plan to do that.

On Auburn’s Week 1 game:

  • I think they are a very good football team. I texted Kevin Steele after the game, he’s a friend of mine. They are very physical.

Injury report:

  • Todd Harris is questionable this wee, “Don’t know if he’ll play” this week.
