After losing Thaddeus Moss and Stephen Sullivan to the NFL this offseason, the LSU Tigers need a new tight end in 2020.

Redshirt senior Jamal Pettigrew and 5-star freshman Arik Gilbert figure to compete for reps, but coach Ed Orgeron is also bringing in a player from the LSU baseball team, it seems.

During an appearance on “Off the Bench” on 104.5 ESPN in Baton Rouge, Coach O said LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri is letting pitcher Nick Storz work out with the football squad (via SI.com):

“Coach Mainieri was gracious enough to allow him to come on over and he’s working out with our football team, he’s a big guy,” Orgeron said. “He’s a phenomenal football player, a phenomenal tight end and I think he’s going to help us.”

Storz is 6-6 and weighs 260 pounds, so he certainly fits the mold for the tight end position.

We’ll see if Storz sticks with the football team heading into the 2020 season and if he’s able to challenge for reps.
