LSU linebacker Michael Divinity suffered a leg injury during this past Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt, and after the contest, head coach Ed Orgeron called it “pretty significant.”
However, there’s now positive news for the Tigers — Divinity’s injury may not be as much of a concern as initially feared.
“He’s going to be OK,” Orgeron said on ESPN 104.5 FM, based in Baton Rouge on Tuesday. “Might be a couple of weeks. Not as bad as it looked on film.”
Divinity appeared to injure his leg while making a tackle during the Tigers’ 66-38 win over the Commodores. He was filling in at outside linebacker for the injured K’Lavon Chaisson and made one tackle.
Divinity has made 11 tackles this season, 10 of which came in a win over Texas on Sept. 7. He also had a sack in the victory over the Longhorns.
It’s fortunate for LSU that Divinity should be coming back soon, as losing him would have hurt its depth in the linebacker corps. The Tigers also have a bye this weekend, so that will give Divinity some time to get better without missing a game.
No. 4 LSU returns to game action on Oct. 5, when it hosts Utah State at noon ET on SEC Network.
