Ed Orgeron updates bowl status of star LSU pass rusher Arden Key

A trend in recent years has been for star college players to sit out bowl games if they’re not playing for national championships.
LSU RB Leonard Fournette and Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey did it last year, but will star LSU DE/OLB Arden Key follow suit and sit out the Tigers’ Citrus Bowl appearance against Notre Dame?
LSU coach Ed Orgeron said he’s not sure what Key’s plans are for sure, but he expects to have the talented pass rusher on the field for the big game (via The Advocate):
“I expect him to play,” Orgeron said Sunday on a bowl teleconference. “I can’t say that now (for sure). Been out on the road recruiting. As far as I know, he’s going to play.”
Key missed the final two games of the regular season after having surgery on his pinky finger, but with nearly a month before the bowl game, he could recover in time.
Will the possible first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft risk another injury against the Fighting Irish? That remains to be seen, but Coach O thinks Key will give it a go.
