Yes, there is even a preseason watch list for college football’s head coaches.
Eight from the SEC were among 23 revealed on Friday’s watch list for the Bobby Dodd Trophy, the nation’s top postseason coaching honor.
The SEC’s total nominees doubled the amount of the nearest Power 5 conferences (Big 12, Pac-12).
According to the Dodd Trophy’s official release, ‘The head coaches on the watch list represent programs with the highest ideals of leadership, scholarship and integrity on and off the field — the three pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd’s philosophy. Each of the coaches sits at the helm of programs with winning records, superior Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores and graduation rates, and a strong commitment to service within their communities.”
LSU’s Les Miles was a noticeable snub.
The full watch list can be seen, here.
