Eli Drinkwitz and Missouri quickly filled their vacant offensive coordinator role after Kirby Moore departed to take over at Washington State earlier this week.

On Sunday, the Tiger program announced that Michigan’s Chip Lindsey would be trading one Block M for another, as he’ll be joining Mizzou’s staff in the same position he held in Ann Arbor.

Within the school’s public announcement, Drinkwitz provided his thoughts on what Lindsey will bring to the table.

We are excited to welcome Chip Lindsey to Mizzou to lead our offense,” Eli Drinkwitz said. “He does a tremendous job of not only coaching and developing players but organizing and implementing the offense. He is an excellent offensive mind with wide range of experience from high school to offensive coordinator to college head coach. Chip is a tremendous addition to our coaching staff and someone who can seamlessly transition into the job.

A comment from Lindsey was also included, with him expressing admiration for what Drinkwitz has accomplished during his time in COMO and how the program has grown on and off the field.

I could not be happier to have the opportunity to work with Eli Drinkwitz in Columbia,” Lindsey said. “What Coach Drinkwitz has done at Mizzou over that past six years is remarkable. You couple that with the commitment the University of Missouri has made to the football program, this is one of the most attractive coordinator jobs in the country. The commitment and infrastructure in place from an organizational standpoint and the talent on the field is truly exciting.

Lindsey has held a wide range of assistant-coaching positions at the collegiate level, although his only experience within the SEC comes from his time as an offensive assistant (2013) and offensive coordinator (2017-2018) at Auburn.
