Eli Drinkwitz expected to promote Mizzou assistant, per report

An interim assistant coach on Eli Drinkwitz’s staff at Missouri will apparently remain in his role on a permanent basis.
Al Davis, who served as the Tigers’ interim defensive line coach, has had the interim tag removed, according to Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel. Davis replaced Jethro Franklin, who was fired a day after Mizzou fell 62-24 at Tennessee on Oct. 2 in a game where it allowed 458 rushing yards.
Davis was hired as a defensive analyst prior to the 2021 season. Before that, he was the defensive tackles coach at Illinois. That came after serving as the co-defensive coordinator at Hutchison Community College in Kansas, where he was eventually named associate head coach.
The former Arkansas defensive lineman began his coaching career as a volunteer head coach at Fayetteville High School before becoming a grad assistant at his alma mater for 3 seasons.
Mizzou is 6-6 and will see its bowl destination announced on Sunday.
