Eli Drinkwitz and Mizzou players like Barrett Banister accepted responsibility for the disappointing loss to Wake Forest in the Gasparilla Bowl.
Drinkwitz was visibly emotional in the post-game press conference, and hung his head at the table.
He does everything for us, and deflects all the blame on himself and everything,” Banister said. “But the opportunities are there for us as players. I think they’re going to continue in that next step and make those plays to put this program in position where they want to be in the next years.”
Drinkwitz said simply, “I love these guys, it’s my responsibility.”
There was also an apology on social media from Missouri linebacker Chad Bailey who got into a scuffle with cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. during the game.
Emotional moment to end #Mizzou‘s press conference. WR Barrett Banister says Eli Drinkwitz puts all the blame on himself to protect his team. He adds the opportunities are there for players.

I wanna send an apology to my boy @EnnisRakestraw, as a captain of this team my actions were uncalled for and inexcusable. Love you gang. Let’s focus on next year ??. MIZ

The Missouri player went to help Sam Hartman up, instead his teammate ran over to beef with him?
